Notre Dame students go on to become women of impact by embodying the graduation outcomes of being a lifelong learner, community leader, spiritual seeker and justice advocate. This mission remains with them long after they leave ND’s downtown campus.
Caitlin Stone-Collonge, an alum from the Class of 2016 and current ND faculty member, volunteered at the transformative 'Student Shop Day' in San Jose, where high school girls had the opportunity to select three complete outfits at no cost.
All the clothing was generously donated by local organizations and community members. Organized by the grassroots organization FLYGURLZCLUB, the event saw hundreds of students pre-register for their shopping time slots. FLYGURLZCLUB is a sisterhood dedicated to empowering young women and promoting self-expression through fashion, beauty and art. In addition to choosing garments, participants enjoyed complimentary makeup, nail, brow and hair services.
Caitlin shares, “It was a truly enriching experience to connect with others dedicated to empowering students by providing access to clothing that helps them feel like their authentic selves.” She found joy in assisting students as they discovered outfits that reflected their unique styles and was fulfilled by seeing the enthusiasm of families who came to support their children. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with excitement, as everyone embraced the chance to express themselves through fashion.
