Generations of family members walk the Notre Dame halls – mothers, daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters who share the legacy of a Notre Dame education and St. Julie’s mission to “teach them what they need to know for life.”
Pilar Morales ’70 planted the seed for her granddaughters to apply to Notre Dame. She believes ND is a place anyone can find their purpose, and seeing them do just that inspires her. Melia Morales ’26 agrees, noting that Notre Dame’s kind and welcoming environment lives up to what her grandma described. Brooklyn Morales ’23 notes that the biggest difference between her experience and her grandmother’s is the diversity. The student body has become more diverse and the selection of courses, programs, clubs and leadership has also grown.
Our very own staff member, Monica Gomez ’90, is also an alum. She wants her daughters, Malyna Trujillo ’23 and Isela Trujillo ’26, to stand for justice and develop their own opinions and values as part of ND’s rich history.
The unique perspectives from multiple generations reinforce Notre Dame’s mission. Let us celebrate our community today, tomorrow and for years to come as we add to the rich tapestry of the last 172 years.
