Personal Statement
People. Process. Purpose. My pedagogy centers around these three pillars. When I consider how to efficiently “be the change” as an educator, I return to my roots. I am reminded that early on, children are predominantly shaped by two entities: their homes, and if fortunate to have access, their schools. School administrators have focused duties–to execute the mission, to sustain a fiscally thriving community, and to govern curriculum and programming. Catholic school leaders have a greater, more meaningful charge–to fulfill the former, to inspire young minds and to simply love children. What a beautiful mission that is! Much is shifting in our world today. While we cannot control everything that transpires in it, we can certainly control the work we do in our schools. We can focus on our people, our process and our purpose. Call it whimsical, but I contend that if we want to change our world, we have to change our people; and, if we want to change our people, we MUST change our schools.
