Ruth Ann graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1991. She practiced as an attorney at Wilson Sonsini in Palo Alto for a number of years before shifting to focus on raising her daughters. Her practice was in securities litigation. Her pro bono legal work was in child advocacy and community-based mediation services. Ruth Ann continues to care deeply about child advocacy and currently volunteers as a CASA (Court Appointed Child Advocate) in Santa Clara County. 

Ruth Ann enjoys skiing, scuba and open water swimming. She loves traveling with her husband and two adult daughters, who both attended Notre Dame.
